Sheep and Wool 2012!

The colors and the yarn! It was all like a dream! I look forward to this day all year long and I was not disappointed at all. I was more discriminating in my search for yarn, I have to say, I searched and held back, and touched and felt, and thought before I finally bought this luscious yarn, the hand-dyed mohair was such a beautiful color, that I couldn't decide between that and the merino in the same aqua so I opted for both. I am not unhappy about it, I bought them both from the nicest older couple from Michigan. I had met them at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival when I bought pink mohair yarn from their booth. That day was very hot, it was about 95 degrees. When I visited their booth they had shared their iced tea with me! Rainy Monday

Rainy Mondays always give me the blues. Getting up at 5 is terrible. Now is the time I try to find any bright spots in my day to help me along and the one thing I can actually be quasi happy about is that I can knit on the way to work as it is Melissa's day to drive. I used to knit or crochet while I was driving when I drove by myself into Queens, too many people saw me and cautioned me against it. It is the only thing that kept me sane on the LIE during that dreadful commute. As a multitasker out of necessity it pains me not to be doing at least three things at once, and considering the things I love to do the most, the are all mutually exclusive activities. I have tried to imagine reading and knitting at the same time, and although Elizabeth Zimmerman insists that you can train yourself to do that, I haven't yet reached that level of confidence. Chloe Kim Fever

There is nothing like seeing a knitted item and furiously trying to re-create it! This winter, in the Olympics, the adorable young Chloe Kim showed up all over the TV in an adorable hat. Right away I wanted to try to make the hat for my daughters. I spent a few days trying to get the same look, using different yarns, different size needles...Finally I got the look I wanted. I never did find the actual yarn that her hat was made of, but the super bulky yarn by Lion Brand fit the bill. After several trips to Michael's I found enough yarn to make four hats. My two daughters in their hats! Here is a photo of Chloe Kim in her hat, the inspiration for my projects. This was very exciting to me. I am going to write out my pattern to share.
